Abstract

Tillering is an important agronomic trait in sorghum, contributing to grain yield and plant architecture. In this issue, Chen et al. (938–955) report that a mutation in NAB1 led to activation of axillary buds in sorghum, and NAB1 encodes a carotenoid‐cleavage dioxygenase, homologous to HTD1/D17 in rice and MAX3 in Arabidopsis.
