Abstract

4-Methyltetrahydropyran is a new recyclable ether solvent that can be applied to bench-scale oxidative reactions. During oxidation, however, trace degradation of solvent occurs. Slight amounts of solvent-derived oxidative products were characterized by 1H NMR analyses. The picture shows that the solvent used in the epoxidation reaction contains some degradation products that could be detected in microanalysis.
