Abstract

The Cover Feature shows the design of a new (CrMnFeNiMg)3O4 high entropy oxide (HEO) for use in sulfur cathode in lithium–sulfur batteries. The HEO chemically adsorbed the diffusing lithium polysulfides through Li−O and metal−S bonds. The combination of Cr, Mn, Fe, Ni, and Mg metals in a highly stable HEO provides abundant active sites to enhance the adsorption of lithium polysulfides in the cathode. As a result, the HEO-containing sulfur cathode delivers a high and stable charge-storage capacity for a large number of cycles and at high rates.
