Abstract

Heteroatom-doped graphene is emerging as an outstanding material for tailoring the properties of graphene by chemical functionalization. With the use of classical click chemistry, N-doped graphene has been functionalized to carry well-known photosensitizer electron donors, viz., zinc porphyrin and zinc phthalocyanine. Efficient singlet quenching of photosensitizers was witnessed in these hybrids, and the ultrafast pump–probe technique provided evidence of excited-state charge separation in these hybrids, thus making them useful candidates for applications in harvesting light energy.
