Cover Feature: Exhaustive Conformational Search for Sialyl Cation Reveals Possibility of Remote Participation of Acyl Groups (ChemPhysChem 3/2022)

Abstract

The Cover Feature allegorizes the vast research field of carbohydrate chemistry as a flower field. While it is hardly possible to embrace the whole field in detail, one flower is seen very clearly, with its core representing the conformational ensemble of a model sialyl cation, and eight petals – the most important conformers, four of which (green ones) are stabilized by participation of protective groups.
