Abstract

Bright yellow-green carbon quantum dots (YGCDs) were efficiently synthesized by a one-step hydrothermal method, and the absolute quantum yield of YGCDs reaches a high level in a short time compared with that using commonly reported solvothermal methods. The obtained carbon quantum dots could be used as a selective luminescent probe of folic acid in the range of 2.0 × 10-8 mol/l to 1.0 × 10-5 mol/l. This work is part of a special collection at Chemistry – An Asian Journal celebrating the 100th anniversary of Shanghai University (1922-2022), which commemorates the wonderful development process of the chemistry discipline of Shanghai University.
