Abstract

The diverging path: The artwork in the cover depicts the use of ortho-alkynylarylketones with a 1,3-dicarbonyl pendant for the synthesis of arylnaphthalenelactone and furanonaphthol libraries. The method utilized a silver catalyst to promote the decarboxylative cyclization in one pot to vastly improve access to arylnaphthalenelactones. For ketone substrates containing a 2-chloro-4,6-dimethoxybenzene substituent, the reaction diverged into the novel oxy-dearylation reaction to form furanonaphthols. The method was general and applicable to a wide range of substrates. More information can be found in the Research Article by Jumreang Tummatorn et al.
