Abstract

The key building block of our flexible approach to the modular synthesis of substituted cycloparaphenylenes (CPPs) is in the spotlight. From this stage, the depicted substituted [8]- and [10]CPPs were synthesised in two more steps, macrocyclization and reductive aromatization. The optoelectronic properties of these nanorings were compared to those of the parent CPPs, as well as the tube-like solid state structure. More information can be found in the Research Article by H. A. Wegner et al. (DOI: 10.1002/chem.202104239).
