Abstract
Cover description: Traditional stilt fishers of Sri Lanka. The fishers sit on a crossbar called “petta” tied to a vertical pole planted in the coral reef. The main species targeted are spotted herring (Herklotsichthys punctatus) and bolla (Rastrelliger kanagurta). Up to 1000 fish can be caught per fisher per day, with management self‐imposed by the fishers. Stilt fishing is not only a fishing method—it has become a tourist attraction.
