Abstract
Described are some examples of the degradation of phosphido bridges via coupling with alkyl hydrides and carbene ligands. The experiments outlined demonstrate that the phosphide bridges are not inert and that they can participate in complex reactions. Such bridge elimination reactions may limit the utility of phosphide-bridged complexes in homogenous catalysis.
