Abstract

Coupled-inductor L-source inverter is proposed in this paper. Compared to other existing impedance source inverters, the proposed inverter has a unique advantage that makes the proposed inverter flexibly work in two current modes: continuous conduction mode (CCM) and discontinuous conduction mode (DCM). The proposed inverter uses an auxiliary switch with an antiparalleled diode in series with a storage capacitor to keep the dc-link voltage invariable, while the coupled-inductor cell works in the DCM. Compared to CCM, the proposed inverter in DCM can produce the higher voltage gain, reduce the voltage stresses across passive components, and lower the coupled-inductor values and power losses. The circuit topology, modulation strategy, and operating principle are introduced in this paper. Simulation and experiment results are shown to verify the theoretical analysis results.
