Abstract
A refractive index (RI) sensor is presented by coupled structure plastic optical fibers (POFs). By monitoring the changes of the coupling ratio, the variations of the external medium RIs can be measured. The sensor is easy fabrication, low cost, and independent of transmission power fluctuations.
