Abstract

Abstract This article describes a new experimental set up for emulating MIMO channels, based on two mode stirred reverberation chambers (MSRC), coupled together with a waveguide. This guide allows one to control the order of the channel diversity, the chambers generating a Rayleigh environment. This set up could thus be used to perform tests of MIMO communication systems in perfectly defined environments and thus under reproducible conditions. After a brief recall of the advantages and drawbacks of using a single reverberation chamber, we describe the theoretical approach and the experimental results for the analysis of two coupled chambers.
