Abstract
AbstractIn tellurium a coupling of the plasmons with the longitudinal polar optical phonons due to the macroscopic polarisation field is expected. The eigenfrequencies are calculated, for coupled modes propagating parallel and perpendicular to the c‐axis of the uniaxial crystal. From reflectivity measurements on heavily Sb‐doped tellurium crystals the eigenfrequencies of these modes are determined on samples with plasma frequencies nearly equal to the frequency of the polar LO‐modes.
