Abstract

AbstractThe railgun system is an electromechanical coupled system. In this paper, electromechanical coupled dynamics equations of the electrical system in the railgun are proposed. The free oscillation of the electrical system in the railgun is investigated, changes in the natural frequency and the damping coefficients of the electrical system, along with the time and related parameters, are analyzed, the forced responses of the current to the voltage fluctuation are discussed, and the dynamic electromagnetic forces in the railgun are determined. The results show that a small voltage fluctuation of the electrical system in the railgun can cause a large dynamic magnetic force on the rails under some conditions.
