Abstract
In this paper a coupled-mode method for computing the wave field scattered by three-dimensional, axisymmetric fluid objects is presented. The method provides a unified approach to solving three-dimensional scattering problems for axisymmetric objects in free space, in a waveguide, or partially or fully buried in a basement. Numerical computations of scattering from finite cylinders in free space and embedded between two half-spaces are presented. Also, the method is used to compute the scattering from an infinitely long cylinder for which analytical results are available.
