Abstract

The rheological behavior of soil mass is usually not governed simply by a single process of creep and stress relaxation. Here, a Mesri stress-strain-time relation function (Mesri., G. etc. 1981) is applied to describe the coupled effect of creep and stress relaxation of soft clay. Numerical results are compared with those obtained from data acquired from coupled creep-stress relaxation tests of clay samples. The results of the study are satisfactory.
