Abstract

Characteristics of eigenwaves of two coupled EBG waveguides in an electromagnetic crystal are studied. Two variants of distributed coupling using an array of cylinders that are thinner than the crystal cylinders and an array of capacitive cylinders with gaps between the ends of cylinders and a screen are considered. It is shown that an additional even mode that emerges in the second variant disturbs continuity of the transition of even modes that exist in the corresponding limiting waveguide structures.
