Abstract

A coupled channel formalism is described which, together with a macroscopic approach to the transfer process, allows the evaluation of differential cross sections for nucleon-pair transfer reactions in heavy-ion collisions. The method improves in several aspects previous calculations performed with the intrinsic coordinate dependent phase shift method, the most important being the inclusion of the Q-value effect and the possibility of studying the transfer of proton pairs in heavy-ion nuclear reactions.
