Abstract

This paper theoretically analyses the effect of couple stress fluid on the action of the squeeze film formed when a curved upper plate with a porous facing approached an impermeable flat lower plate by considering the rotation of the plates. The Reynolds equation is uncoupled by using the Morgan–Cameron approximation and closed-form solutions are obtained. Expressions are obtained for pressure and load carrying capacity. All the bearing characteristics increased when the curvature or the couple stress parameter increased. The increase in pressure and load capacity depends on the couple stress parameter, fluid inertia and speed of the rotation of the plates.
