Abstract

ABSTRACT This article reports findings on the development of an index that measures out reach counseiors' satisfaction with a disaster training program. Data were collected from a sampie of 64 counseiors who were re cruited and trained to pro vide men tal health ser vices to sur vi vors of the Great Flood of 1993. Fac tor anal y ses were used to iden tify a 15 item in dex. These items rep re sent three fac tors which ex plained 80.6% of the vari ance among the items. The resuiting Disaster Training Evaluation In dex (DTE-I) has exeellent reliability estimates (Al pha =. 9 5). The DTE-I rep re sents an im por tant step in fill ing the need for mea sure ment instruments that evaluated is a stertraining programs.
