Abstract

So often counselling has been seen as being done to older people rather than done by older people. This book contributes to redressing that balance. All the contributors are aged over 50 and some over 70. As the editor says, ‘they write as themselves, give of themselves, share and are generous with their sharing. Each person has a story to tell and tells it in her or his own way, making no excuse, being proud to tell it and assured that it will find an echo.’ All the writers have gone through some kind of counselling or awareness training. For some it is a first attempt at writing; others are experienced authors.
