Abstract

The growth of the Asian diaspora in the United States (Inman et al., 2014), paired with the increase in emphasis on multicultural competency in the counseling profession, informs a widening gap in relevant counseling literature. It is crucial to understand the mental health needs and utilization of counseling services in this community. This content analysis focuses on the current status of research on mental health issues and help-seeking among the Asian diaspora in the United States. Descriptive statistics regarding research and content themes are reported. Implications for counseling and further research are discussed.
