Abstract
A direct synthesis of dihydrolapachenole (IIa) is described.-Methoxy-7,8-benzocoumarin (Id), an intermediate for the synthesis of lapachenole (Ia) has been prepared by Elbs persulphate oxidation of 7,8-benzocoumarin and subsequent methylation.
