Abstract

Hydrazine is a kind of widely used chemical reagent, which has the harmfulness to human health and ecosystem. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a rapid and sensitive method for the detection of hydrazine. In this work, a novel cellulose-based fluorescent probe (ACBC-CA) was rationally developed for the selective and sensitive detection of hydrazine. ACBC-CA was synthesized by using cellulose acetate as skeleton and coumarin-based derivative as the fluorophore. ACBC-CA exhibited a significant “turn-on” fluorescence response to hydrazine, accompanied by a distinct fluorescence color change from colorless to bright yellow. The detection limit of ACBC-CA for hydrazine was calculated to be 1.2 × 10−7 M. Furthermore, ACBC-CA was successfully applied to determine hydrazine in real environmental water and soil samples.
