Abstract

AbstractHaving developed a mixed, quasistatic Eulerian–Lagrangian shell finite element model for the simulation of axially moving, endless steel belts, we focus on how to efficiently treat the Coulomb contact between belt and drums. The proposed method relies on the penalty regularization for normal contact and on an augmented Lagrangian strategy for tangential contact. The presented results demonstrate the robustness of the applied scheme.
