Abstract

A study is preformed of the relationship between the spectrum of low-energy collective excitations in two-dimensional Fermi liquids and the paramagnet/ferromagnet phase transition in the quantum Hall state with filling factor v = 2. It is shown theoretically and experimentally that the softening of the energy of collective spin–flip excitations accompanies the spontaneous switching of the spin configuration of the system from the paramagnetic to the ferromagnetic phase.
