Abstract

Cotard's syndrome was described in France after Jules Cotard observed that some patients presented delusions of sensoriperception, denying their own existence or that of people close to them. Currently, little is known about this psychiatric condition, and the literature lacks more robust information. In this article, we report the clinical case of a patient who, after significant emotional stress, began to believe that she was dead and requested to be returned to her grave. Drug treatment was instituted and the patient remained hospitalized, and over time her symptoms remitted.
