Abstract
Aviation maintenance is a critical role of aircraft life cycle operation supports, application of advanced Prognostics and Health Management (PHM) technology to aircraft health monitoring and maintenance being in the research stage, facing lack of engineering practices and data problems. In this paper, the concept of maintenance mode based on PHM is put forward. On the basis of traditional maintenance and condition-based maintenance (CBM), three cost models in PHM maintenance are established, which are optimization of maintenance plan, control unscheduled maintenance and error impact analysis. With computer simulation technology, the Increase cost and the save cost of the PHM system are calculated by defining different PHM parameters, and the economic benefits of the PHM maintenance mode are comprehensively evaluated. Simulation results show that, under ideal condition, compared to the traditional maintenance, it can reduce 56% maintenance man-hours, save 60% maintenance cost, and avoid 88% unscheduled maintenance events based on PHM maintenance mode.
