Abstract

The torsion is shown to be vitally important in the explanation of the evolution of theuniverse in a large class of gravitational theories containing quadratic terms of curvatureand torsion. The cosmological solutions with homogeneous and isotropic torsionin a model of the de Sitter gauge theory of gravity are presented, which mayexplain the observation data for type Ia supernovae when parameters are suitablychosen.
