Abstract
The tunneling probability of a possible first-order phase transition of the grand unification symmetry is calculated taking the running nature of the gauge coupling constant and the effect of the spacetime curvature into account. The transition should either occur at ∼10 10 GeV or never occur, depending crucially on the parameter characterizing the gravitational coupling of the scalar field.
