Abstract

The rotating heliostat field represents a new concept in solar thermal tower power plants. It has a low cosine effect loss than of a static field. This loss can be also minimized by finding the optimal arrangement of the heliostats on the field. In this paper we present an algorithm giving the cosine efficiency distribution of rotating heliostat field in solar tower power plants. A radial staggered configuration is used to locate heliostats on the field. The results of the average cosine efficiency distribution were compared with those found in the literature. It can be noted that our optimization of rotating heliostat field has higher cosine efficiency.
