Abstract
This retrospective study sought to determine if an association exists between adjuvant corticosteroid therapy (ACT) and time to death or time to hospital discharge in children with bacterial meningitis. All children discharged with a primary discharge diagnosis of bacterial meningitis between January 1, 2001 and December 31, 2006 were identified from the Pediatric Health Information System, a database containing administrative data from tertiary care hospitals in 18 states and the District of Columbia.
