Abstract

Synchronized activity, a hallmark of hippocampal network dynamics, appears early during development. Whether extrinsic inputs drive such activity remains unknown. In this issue of Neuron, Leprince etal.1 show that synchronized activity, while modulated by both cortical and thalamic inputs exvivo, depends solely on cortical inputs invivo.
