Abstract
Abstract Frequent condenser tube failure in thermal power stations in India prompted this study on the effects of cyclohexylamine, morpholine, and ammonia on the corrosion rate and polarization behavior of aluminum-brass. The corrosion rate of aluminum-brass exposed to steam condensate containing high concentrations of the neutralizing substances is nearly five times greater than that observed in condensate containing no addition agent. The potential and polarization behavior indicates that at high concentrations of amines, anodic depolarization occurs, giving rise to increased corrosion rate.
