Abstract

The corrosion behaviors of amorphous and crystalline Pd 40Ni 40P 20 alloys in various aqueous solutions are reported in this paper. The corrosion resistance of crystalline (annealed) Pd 40Ni 40P 20 is better than that of amorphous Pd 40Ni 40P 20 in various corrosive solutions, due to crystalline Pd 40Ni 40P 20 and mainly consists of inert Pd 5P 2, Ni 3P, Ni 2Pd 2P and noble Pd phases. These inert and noble properties result in a higher corrosion resistance in crystalline Pd 40Ni 40P 20.
