Abstract

The corrosion mechanism of pipeline steel laser-metal active gas (MAG) hybrid welds have been widely concerned with its applied in pipeline welding. The corrosion mechanism of X100 pipeline steel laser-MAG hybrid welds with Cr containing welding wire in NS4 solution was investigated. The corrosion products of weld metal (WM) had a double-layer structure, of which the outer and the inner layer were composed of FeOOH and Cr(OH)3, respectively. Compared with the base metal (BM), WM had higher Cr content and more homogeneous microstructure, so it can form dense corrosion layer, making its corrosion resistance reach the level of the BM.
