Abstract

1. Roofing and framework structures of steel tanks containing sour crudes and cracked gasolines in oil refinery product and crude oil tank farms are subjected to intensive corrosion, the rate of which in a number of the structural members exceeds 1 mm/year. 2. The rate of corrosion of tank structures is not the same in vapor-air medium and in the variable level zone. The structures in the variable level zone are subjected to more intensive corrosion, especially the structural members situated at 40–50° angle with respect to the horizontal plane; vertical members are least subjected to corrosion.
