Abstract

1. The above-mentioned hypothesis concerning the influence of the saturation effect has been confirmed. 2. The absolute value of the specific mass loss depends on the ratio of the length of the specimens to the diameter. The results of investigation of corrosion obtained on short specimens, must not be extended to long articles. 3. When heating of the tubes is nonuniform, the location of the maximum local corrosion rate cannot coincide with that of the maximum temperature. 4. The above conclusions may be extended to a wide range of channel wall materials, interacting with a gas stream according to a reaction of type A (solid) plus B(gas) ⇋ V(gas), or evaporating in a stream of neutral gas.
