Abstract
The corrosion inhibition performances of HPAA on A3 carbon steel in different pH values sulphuric acid medium were investigated by weight loss method. The corrosion inhibition performances of HPAA have a significant decrease with pH value from 3.0 to 7.0, while it has changed little without corrosion inhibitors. The corrosion inhibition rate was only 8.5% at pH was 3.0 while the corrosion inhibition rate was 86.5% at pH was 7.0. The corrosion inhibition efficiency gradually improves with the dosage of HPAA increases at the same pH value. The surfaces microstructures of carbon steel coupons were studied by using SEM and EDX microanalysis. SEM and EDX analyse datas showed the addition of HPAA could form a protective film on the surface of carbon steel coupon to slow down its corrosion and HPAA used for sulfuric acid medium have good protective effect on A3 carbon steel.
