Abstract

Zeolite is a pozzolanic material that has been used to create high-strength mortar and concrete. Because of the advantages of the pozzolanic property of material, calcining concrete has potential to boosts its compressive strength. This essay includes research on the significant quality of concrete containing natural and calcined zeolite, which had demonstrated improvement over its corrosion resistance apart from the compressive strength. Results for fly ash are also displayed for comparison. Corrosion of concrete manufactured with calcined zeolite appears to perform better than corrosion of concrete made with fly ash or without zeolite. The compressive strength increased with calcined zeolite utilisation for w/b ratios 0.4 and 0.3 are 13.24% and 15.55% respectively in comparison with reference concrete. The calcined zeolite produced resistivity greater than 20 kΩ cm in both w/b ratios 0.4 and 0.3 tested. This shows that calcined zeolite has the potential to be used as a pozzolanic component that helps produce high corrosion resistive performance concrete.
