Abstract
The aluminum alloy has versatile applications in electronic industry, automotive and aerospace structure, wind and solar energy management. The main problem with aluminum alloy is that the fatigue failure is happened due to corrosion under different environments. In fact, corrosion plays an adverse role to accelerating the fatigue failure due to geometric flaws, concentrate stress and crack propagation. The reduction of corrosion can resolve this problem in industry. The research work is concentrated to find out the way to reduce corrosion which is associated with the fatigue failure of aluminum alloy. This paper showed Syzygium Samarangense leaf juice combined with NaOH solution can reduce the corrosion of aluminum alloy that was not happened when only NaOH solution is considered. Aluminum alloy was immersed in 100% NaOH, 100% Syzygium Samarangense leaf juice, 60% NaOH+40% Syzygium Samarangense leaf juice and 40% NaOH+60% Syzygium Samarangense leaf juice solution and corrosion rates were observed for 15, 20, 25 and 30 days in all cases. The results showed that Syzygium Samarangense leaf juice is behaved as a green inhibitor in the form of protective layer to reduce the corrosion significantly. The physical analysis is done by FTIR and SEM methods. Polarization, impedance, surface topography, particle and volume analysis are also done for better understanding the corrosion mechanism.
