Abstract

The present work presents the analysis of corrosion behavior of 304 and 316 stainless steels in comparison with the AISI 1018 steel, as reinforcement in concrete specimens made with partial replacement of CPC 30R-RS by Sugar Cane Bagasse Ash (SCBA) and Silica Fume (SF), the specimens were exposed to a 3.5% solution of Na2SO4, as an aggressive medium. The electrochemical techniques employed in the present study were the half-cell potential, (ASTM C-876-15) and Linear Polarization Resistance LPR (ASTM G59). The Ecorr values after more than 100 days of exposure indicate for the three steels present corrosion uncertainty, however the values of Icorr of stainless steel 304 and 316 indicate 5 times more resistant corrosion than AISI 1018 steel, presenting the concrete made with SCBA, the best performance against corrosion when exposed to sulfates.
