Abstract

SUS 304 stainless steel was coated with a layer of TiN using chemical vapour deposition and its corrosion and abrasion resistivity to sea water and whirled sea sand were examined in relation to the deposition parameters and the thickness of the coated layer. The corrosion resistivity increased with decreasing deposition temperature, while the best abrasion resistivity was attained at 950°C.
