Abstract

It has been brought to our attention by the Australian Gas Resource Assessment (AGRA) that our review article, as referenced in the title of this corrigendum, has incorrectly attributed certain statements to the citation “Australian Government Department of Energy and Resources, 2011. Australian Energy Resource Assessment (Chapter 9). Canberra ACT, Australia”. We agree that all references in the article to that citation should be correctly attributed to the 2012 “Australian Gas Resource Assessment” (AGRA) report published by Geoscience Australia in conjunctionwith the Bureau of Resources and Energy Economics (BREE), whichwas referenced extensively elsewhere in our article as “BREE 2012c” listed in our original list of references as “BREE, 2012c. Australian Government. Bureau of Resources & Energy Economics. Australian Gas Resource Assessment 2012”. Hence, there are four citations to “Australian Government Department of Energy and Resources, 2011. Australian Energy Resource Assessment (Chapter 9). Canberra ACT, Australia”, two on page 73, one on page 74, and one on page 79, of our article as published that should be correctly attributed to “BREE, 2012c. Australian Government. Bureau of Resources & Energy Economics. Australian Gas Resource Assessment 2012”. In addition, although we correctly attribute “BREE 2012c” on page 73 of our manuscript for the details of the statement that appears uncited in the second paragraph of our introduction (p.68), i.e., “Most (around 92 per cent) of Australia's conventional gas resources are located in the Carnarvon, Browse and Bonaparte basins off the north-west coast. Large coal seam gas (CSG) resources exist in the coal basins of Queensland and New SouthWales. Tight gas accumulations are located in onshoreWestern Australia and South Australia, while potential shale gas resources are located in the Northern Territory, Western Australia and South Australia”, a citation to BREE 2012c should have been made with respect to this statement in the introduction (p68) to clearly attribute its source. We apologise to Australian Gas Resource Assessment and our readers for these errors, which were inadvertently carried forward from early drafts of our manuscript and not picked up and corrected by us, as they should have been, prior to its publication. Please also note that one of the co-authors, David Wood was Assistant Editor to the Journal of Natural Gas Science and Engineering from 2009 to 2014 and subsequently appointed in 2014 as the journal's Editor-in-Chief. In that capacity David is very keen to ensure the accuracy of information and citations included in articles published by the Journal of Natural Gas Science and Engineering. The paper was handled and the final decision to accept the paper was taken by the late Prof. Michael Economides. The authors would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.
