Abstract

This article corrects the following: Development of High Power Density Metal-Supported Solid Oxide Fuel Cells Volume 5, Issue 12, Energy Technology, pages: 2175–2181 First published online: May 17, 2017 The estimation of the “active area” of the electrodes in this Full Paper included only the exposed area not covered by acrylic masking during catalyst infiltration. It was recently determined that the masking allowed leakage of catalyst precursor solution into the rest of the cell area, so the true active area is more accurately calculated as the whole cell geometric area not covered by seal.[1] For easier comparison with similar work, the values have been recalculated in accordance with this corrected active area. As a consequence, all the reported values of the current density (in mA cm−2) and power density (in mW cm−2) were overestimated and impedance (in Ohms × cm2) was underestimated in the original Full Paper for Figure 5-8. The originally reported current densities were corrected by dividing by 4, and the impedance values were corrected by multiplying by 4. Values given for voltage, temperature, and infiltration number do not change. The original data reported in Figure 2–4 are correct, as those cells were intentionally infiltrated over the full cell area, with no masking. The validity of the information reported in the abstract, introduction, results, and conclusions are valid, with the exception of the reported power densities. In particular, relative comparisons between various catalyst compositions, deposition parameters, and operating conditions are valid. The authors sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused by this correction.
