Abstract

Radiologists have always been conscious that their legs are vulnerable to radiation and that the protection afforded by a normal lead rubber apron attached to the screening stand is inadequate. The reason for this is that there is no screening of scattered radiation from the patient. If a dental film is worn in the turn-up of the trousers, it is not long before an appreciable dose can be recorded.
