Abstract

46 Right and 46 left Lower limbs and areas of insertion of Gay rope muscles viz Sartorius, Gracilis, semitendanosus are studied. Length of the Lower limbs are measured by measuring Tape and area of insertion are measured with Digital caliper. The mean values of Right lower limb is 81.72cm (SD±-2.56) and mean values of Sartorius is 1.49(SD ±0.24)Graciis is 0.75cm(±0.16).and Semitendanosus area mean value is 0.55cm(SD±0.15)respectively. The mean value of Length of left lower limb is 80.15cm(SD±2.13)and mean value of area of insertion of Left Sartorius is 1.62cm(SD±0.41), left Gracilis area mean value 0.93cm(SD(±0.31).and area of insertion of left semitendanosus mean value is 0.49cm(SD±0.11) The correlative coefficient study of both limbs is highly significant(p<0.001) with three areas of muscle insertion in both right and left limbs. and ANNOVA Test in both limbs study remain highly significant (p<0.001).. This study confirms the evolution that erect posture is adapted from quadrupeds, moreover this study will be useful for the Radiologist to differentiate the areas of insertion of three Guy rope muscles, also useful to orthopedician an while treating the knee joint because these muscles play vital role in establishing knee joint and its movements. Moreover semitendanosus and Gracilis are popular muscles used for grafting in many constructive surgical procedures(1)(2). moreover knowing these values of areas of insertion length of lower limbs can be explored and vice versa.which has medico-legal importance. These values also have Anatomical, Anthropological importance. This study appears to be quite new method because no previous study is observed to correlate the obtained values.
