Abstract

In a previous study, Scherr, Pasewark, and Sawyer (1973) found a fairly adequate relationship between scores on the Vane Kindergarten Test and Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence. Most IQs derived from the instruments did not differ significantly from each other and Vane Total IQ and WPPSI Full Scale IQ correlated .70. In the present study, the original sample was administered the Metropolitan Reading Readiness Test. Pearson ss were calculated to determine the relationship of these intelligence tests and the Metropolitan scores. Further, coefficients of determination ( P ) were calculared to provide an index of the nature of linear relationships between intelligence scores and Metropolitan scores. Ss were 19 males and 11 females anending two kindergarten classes in Laramie, Wyoming. Age range in months was 67 to 78, with a mean age of 71.9. Mean Vane total IQ was 115.2, while mean WPPSI Full Scale IQ was 116.9.
