Abstract

Abstract Correlations and fluctuations in the disordered phase of Josephson junction arrays (described by the quantum XY model) were analysed using the correlated basis function method. The ground-state energy, the pair distribution function and the structure function were calculated numerically with a suitable ansatz of Jastrow type. These results provided significant improvements over those of mean-field theory.
